Winding Roads

"Understanding breeds compassion.
To heal from pain we must know, understand, and cultivate compassion for, our own experiences.
From there, we can work towards living a more empowered and valued life."

Therapy

A space for support, connection, and self-discovery

The therapy space is personal and the connection between the client and therapist is important as we are all complex human beings with different ways of communicating and connecting. Daniella prioritises cultivating a space of comfort and support without judgement that encourages self-exploration and deep understanding of oneself.

Daniella brings warmth and compassion to the therapeutic space, and takes a person-centred, trauma informed, and collaborative approach to evidence-based practice. This means that Daniella utilises treatments that are supported by scientific evidence and works with you - as the experts on your life - to tailor assessment and treatment to your needs and preferences.

The assessment and therapy process is adapted to your unique ways of learning and developing, including accommodation of different needs related to language, communication, neurodivergence, culture, sensory experience, attention and concentration, and is informed by previous experiences of therapy.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

IFS therapy posits that we are each a

system of 'parts' functioning to keep us going day to day, even in the wake of traumatic experiences. Some parts may be stuck with the pain of the past, and others react in the present as if the danger or threat is ongoing. In IFS, we work towards helping parts become unstuck to increase clarity, connectedness, and compassion within yourself, and lead your own life. IFS therapy can include somatic practices to integrate the whole body in healing.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

An ACT approach works from the perspective that it is our relationship to our thoughts, feelings, urges, and memories that are problematic, rather than the sensations themselves, and that the relationship is what can keep us stuck.

In ACT, we change our relationship to those sensations, work on accepting them and clarifying what is important to you, and then committing to action that takes you towards living a meaningful life.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing

EMDR refers to a trauma processing approach which stimulates both sides of the brain at the same time as recalling painful memories that are 'stuck on repeat' as if they are happening right now. The brain can then reprocess the information to make sense of the memory and 'file' it alongside other memories that make sense, reducing the need for the memories to come up time and time again in daily life.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

DBT-informed therapy includes building skills to cope more effectively day-to-day, to create a life worth living. DBT can include building skills in mindfulness, coping with distress, managing emotions, and learning to effectively communicate needs with others. DBT skills can help in managing crisis situations, very big feelings, and relationship difficulties. Daniella can deliver DBT-informed therapy in individual sessions tailored to your needs.

Mindfulness-based practices

Mindfulness-based practices can aid us in contacting the present moment, to become less stuck with our thoughts, feelings, and memories. These practices can help us to live more in the present and in line with our values.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

The CBT umbrella refers to a range of approaches that can help support and improve difficulties with mood, worry, stress, decision-making, and other areas of development in personal, academic, and professional contexts.
